Closing the Learning Gap for Complex Kiddos – All Engaged, All Communicate, All Learn!

RECOMMENDED FOR: FOR PARENTS, FAMILY MEMBERS & CAREGIVERS

COURSE CONTENT

Children with complex disabilities are often challenged to communicate, engage and learn. Parents can be puzzled as how to best build communication with those who are nonverbal and severely motor challenged.

Embedding communication into everyday life can even become arduous. The challenge of supporting academic growth is compounded for parents who often do not have access to a strong, knowledgeable education support system.

This workshop will present soft and high tech communication strategies that support even the most challenged child in their communication growth and development. Ideas for reading with your child while supporting their communication will be highlighted, as well as learning to communicate through play. Robust videos will highlight strategies and methodologies in use. Parents will leave with specific strategies for supporting our most complex children and a renewed confidence in how to help their child to grow and develop their abilities to communicate.
