M.S. Special Education and Assistive Technology Specialist

Kate completed a five year combined undergraduate and Master of Science program in special education at Simmons College in Boston. Following graduation, Kate taught learners with complex communication needs in private and public schools. She then taught special education for over a decade in educational collaboratives in Massachusetts. She currently works full-time as an assistive technology specialist for a nonprofit. Kate is passionate about helping nonverbal students reach their communication potential through the use of augmentative communication and assistive technology and has successfully assisted families, educators and therapists learn strategies that help students succeed. She is known worldwide as a key resource in helping individuals with Rett Syndrome with building communication and literacy.
